Dr. Hector Chan Manlapas of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Roswell with his family by his side.

He was born on December 21, 1939 in Camarines Paracales, Philippines to the late Dr. Segunda Chan Manlapas and Dr. Hermenegildo Manlapas.

Dr. Manlapas was a long time resident of Roanoke Rapids and was with Halifax Medical Specialist for many years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne Kearse Manlapas; his daughters Katherine Chan Manlapas of Gold Valley, MN, and Mary Ruth Manlapas of Alpharetta, GA; his sons Michael Paul Manlapas of Roswell, GA, and Mark Andrew Manlapas of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Chan, Emma, Jarrett, Keira and Sammy; his sister Dr. Flordeliza Florendo and family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Pius Wekesa officiating.

A reception will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following the service. All are invited.
